The Atlantic Police Academy (APA) celebrated the graduation of 23 Police Science cadets during a ceremony held Friday, April 4th in Summerside, Prince Edward Island.

Family, faculty, and friends gathered to honour the hard work, dedication, and achievements of the newest cohort of public safety professionals.

Jeff Minten, Executive Director of the APA addressed the graduates, commending them for their perseverance, commitment to service, and readiness to take on a career in law enforcement.

“Squad 121 have answered a call to protect and serve our communities” says Minten. “I have witnessed immense growth and teamwork from these cadets, and I am incredibly proud of the officers that they have become. I know they will go on to be leaders in the communities where they will serve”.

During the ceremony, six cadets were recognized with awards for exceptional character, leadership and achievements.

Brianna Vessey received the Inspector Scott Lundrigan Award of Excellence which is presented annually to the cadet who best exemplifies the qualities that Inspector Scott Lundrigan embodied and sought to develop in his cadets: leadership, professionalism, displaying the highest degree of dress and deportment and the ability to think quickly when confronted with demanding situations.

Michael McNeil received two honours: the Chief Robert Innes Memorial Award for Outstanding Leadership and the Chief David P. MacKinnon Award, recognizing his exceptional leadership through teamwork.

The Harvey O. Brown Memorial Award for the highest academic achievement was presented to Jackson Pye.
